In September 2022, The Manchester College opened it’s new city centre campus in Great Ducie Street, and in Summer 2023 it started expanding! The project is part of the plan to consolidate the college’s 14 sites across the city into five main campuses, and is the second phase of the move to the city centre.
Construction of the new four-storey extension to City Campus Manchester was completed in March 2025, and the building will open to students in September 2025. The extension will house the college’s Industry Excellence Academies for Business & Professional, Access to Higher Education and Science, as well as the English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). It will feature ‘industry-standard’ facilities including science labs, classrooms, IT suites and a roof terrace. There will be an Esports room, and an Incubator Hub where industry partners will support students working on business projects. Once complete, the college’s Shena Simon Campus in Chorlton Street will close.
Manchester College is part of the LTE Group, and City Campus Manchester caters for thousands of young people and adult students, preparing them for successful and rewarding careers in industry.
We were contacted by Willmott Dixon, who are building the extension, in August 2023. Construction was starting imminently, and we visited the site the same week and installed a time-lapse camera overlooking the site. The construction work is now complete, and we look forward to sharing the time-lapse film with you soon!
