Last year, Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service undertook a drill tower replacement project, replacing drill towers at a number of locations across the service. We installed two time-lapse cameras at one of these Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service locations to record the sequence of construction works taking place to replace the drill training tower. This site was identified as being the most interesting due to the physical site constraints and the drill tower moving location on the site.
Working with the client, it was agreed that two long duration time-lapse cameras would be used. Camera one recorded the demolition of the existing drill tower with camera two recording the construction of the new tower.
In addition, on the day of dismantle, a site visit was undertaken to capture more detail using manned short duration time-lapse cameras. The erection of a new tower was recorded during a visit to a separate site, using both short duration time-lapse cameras and our drone to capture the detail and provide added interest to the final film.
The request to record the works being undertaken was to allow colleagues across the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, and sector, to view how the project was undertaken by the main contractor Schofield and Sons Limited, supplier – Crofton Engineering Limited and overseen by the Project Manager, IKG Consulting Limited.
In the final film, captions were used to good effect, to provide background and highlight specific details of the project.
We are proud to have worked with Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service on this commission.
