Work has begun on a project to deliver an innovative new primary school and community hub for Glyn-coch. Designed by Stride Treglown, the new school will prioritise health and wellbeing of the pupils, staff, and the Glyn-coch community. Their input has been at the heart of the design process, and the new building will feature a nursery, Learning Support Classes, and a Welsh Medium childcare facility.
The new Glyn-coch primary school aims to achieve Net Zero Carbon in operation, Passivhaus, BREEAM Outstanding and Building with Nature accreditations. It’s design includes water reuse and natural drainage strategies. Natural materials such as timber will be used to contribute towards a calming internal environment
Once completed, it will replace the Cefn Primary and Craig yr Hesg Primary schools, which will be demolished. The new school is expected to be complete and ready to welcome new students in 2026. Find out more here >
The main contractor on the project is Willmott Dixon, and we have been employed by them to capture the construction of the new school and community hub with our time-lapse camera.
